Shadowscape Video Review!
about 10 years ago – Tue, May 24, 2016 at 12:15:12 AM

Ladies and Gentlemen!

It is with great pleasure I present to you the first ever review of Shadowscape! The print and play we made available here in an update was assembled and tested by the Never Bored Gaming team, and now you can see it here. Enjoy!

Just to add a small correction to rules as presented: the card you draw at the end of your turn (for the Enemy activation purposes) does not go into your hand, but into the discard pile instead.

The Cooperative Shadowscape

I would also like to update you on the work on the copperative variant of the game. Well, it’s almost here. It will require a bit more testing, and we may yet squeeze in quite a robust version of it in the Shadowscape box.

Hence, now it is a given that not only will you be able to play Shadowscape cooperatively, but you'll not have to wait terribly long to do it. And also, if we do not have it in the original box, it will most probably require no extra components apart from whatever the game will originally come with!

I hope you enjoy the review, as well as the news, and, as always, I hope you have a great day!

Pledge manager saga - the final answer
about 10 years ago – Mon, May 23, 2016 at 06:34:35 PM

Ladies & Gentlemen,

We have been in contact with BackerKit ever since we received such an overwhelming response in favor of using a pledge manager and, after a thorough evaluation, today we are happy to announce that we will use BackerKit.

The main reasons which led us to this decision have already been described in our updates and your comments, so here is an overview:

  • Easy to use - we have had the chance to test BackerKit from both sides (backer and project creator) and it is a platform which will make your life easier, cruising through all the add-ons and our as well, sorting out all your pledges.
  • It won't affect the timeline - one thing which lead us to avoid pledge managers was the fear of adding extra work and thus time spent. It's safe to say this won't be the case. Having had the chance to analyze BackerKit from the creator perspective, it is likely that by using this platform we might actually save time.
  • The financial aspect is manageable - Using BackerKit comes with a fair price and we're confident that by accepting preorder after the campaign ends, we will make up for the fee.
  • We can unlock more stretch goals - This is probably the past which will make everyone happy. We have a few more surprises for you and as the project ends we may find ourselves in front of a small dilemma - how to unlock those stretch goals which we missed by just a little. Using a pledge manager will provide a simple and elegant solution to this matter.

We still welcome your feedback on this topic as well as any advice or questions you might have.

Have a great day,

Andrei

Print and Play Shadowscape!
about 10 years ago – Fri, May 20, 2016 at 10:09:41 PM

Ladies and Gentlemen!

As promised, I deliver to you not one, but two pretty awesome things!

Firstly, the work on the cover is moving fast, so I am proud to present its currnet state:

Although changes will still be made to the art, I guess you can get a general feel for it already ;-)

Secondly, and possibly more importantly, the Shadowscape PnP can now be downloaded from this location (you can also clock on the image above). Before you grab your scissors, there are some things you need to know:

This is a purely playtest version without any graphics whatsoever. This is the version that circulated around our testers, so it is absolutely minimalistic. I know I warned you about this previously, but I want to say this again: this is the absolute alpha version (at least art and graphic design wise).

Also, the version you are about to get into does not contain some of the cards from the final game. Most notably, it's missing some of the Heroes (as it comes with only four), and number of equipment cards. You will also need a few tokens stolen from another game to play.

Finally, the rules are as minimalistic as possible as well. They have not yet undergone any graphic design, they also lack in examples. This will not be the case with the final version, as this one is (only) a prototype draft.

I hope you have fun with the game. As always, I hope you have a great day!

Play Mistfall on Tabletopia!
about 10 years ago – Fri, May 20, 2016 at 08:28:19 PM

Ladies and Gentlemen!

Some of you have asked us if there was a plan to put Mistfall and Heart of the Mists on Tabletopia. Well, finally, we can tell you that there sure is, and in case of Mistfall, things are already moving at a steady pace. But there is more good news!

If you click here (or on the image below), you will be granted acces to a beta one-player version of Mistfall which you can play today!

If you are new to Tabletopia, there's a document for first time players here. The game rulebook is available within the application itself, but if you want to download it separately, you can find the newest version of the Mistfall rules here, together with the Quest Guide found here.

If you are also completely new to Mistfall, you may want to give the Learn to Play document a quick read. Even if you don't have a copy of the game on hand, it make it easier for you to hit the ground running when you sit down to play on Tabletopia.

I hope you all have a great day, and talk to you soon!

Pledge manager. BGG contest.
about 10 years ago – Fri, May 20, 2016 at 12:17:50 AM

Ladies & Gentlemen,

First of all, I would like to thank you for your feedback regarding the usefulness of a pledge manager. Your comments, as well as your answers to our poll have been extremely useful in determining the direction in which we will go after the campaign is over.

A large majority of those who responded to our poll are in favor of a pledge manager and most recommendations go towards BackerKit. As you can see in the image above, only 30% of the answers are favoring the Kickstarter survey over a pledge manager and more than 50% of the answers are recommending BackerKit.

We are ready to take action in this direction. Your answers have already helped us a lot to understand better the advantages and disadvantages of using a pledge manager, and we've made the decision to try and enter the pledge manager world. But this is not yet a done deal...

As many of you pointed out, using a pledge manager is an extra cost we have not accounted for when we planned our financials for Heart of the Mists and there are other technical aspects we need to consider. We got in touch with BackerKit and in the following days we will chat with them trying to understand exactly what they can offer and at what cost.

We expect that in the last days of the campaign we will be able to announce a final decision in this direction.

Last but not least, today we have launched a BoardGameGeek contest for Heart of the Mists. If you feel like trying your luck and testing your knowledge of the Mists to get an additional copy of the game for a friend in need, check out this link.

Have a great day,

Andrei

EDIT: As pointed out in the first comment by @Susan Davis we will announce a decision as soon as we have it, hopefully by next Monday.
